That's just terrible customer service and company policy.

The truck driver of the local operator dissembled & opened a closed private driveway gate; entered and removed a loaded & locked container with no prior permission and left without any note or contact, all these happened with an auto generated e-mail from the web site. The corporate web site charged for a service which the local operator rescinded later and evasion of responsibilities followed. From the cost perspective, it has overwhelming number 16’ containers and if you need less space, a local storage company would likely suffice and proven to be cheaper. I ended up with a local storage company at LESS THAN HALF the cost. BEWARE.

I was helping my father unload one pod while the pod driver was hauling off an empty pod container. I heard screaming and ran over to find the driver pinned behind the podzilla and our fence. It was running while stuck in gear between his leg and the fence. I luckily got it turned off quickly and was able to get the driver unwedged from under the wheel. He was lucky not to lose a leg the way it wouldn't stop moving. After helping the driver up and realizing it wasn't broken he called the supervisor. They had it Really stuck now and he was in no condition to continue with the job. The supervisor arrived an hour later and said that they obviously made a mistake and would fix it. They told us that they know fence companies would come out and fix it without any issues. It would be billed directly to pods. In another attempt to get the pod out they completely knocked the rest of the fence down. I understand it was the only way out, but that's when the story changed.

Horrible every step of the way. The guy I talked to while ordering had no clue what he was talking about. First he quoted me the price without tax and said that it included tax. I spent about 40 minutes on the phone with him while he took down notes for the driver, I later learned he failed to actually take any notes. So when they came to pick up my loaded pod from my gated apartment complex of course they couldn't get in so they just left... I called and talked to at least 3 different people including a supervisor and they all were extremely rude. They said there's no way they can come back to pick up the pod until 2 days later and insisted I was lying about giving the driver notes. Finally they said they would review the issue and about 30 days later after listening to the recorded call they say yes you did give the driver notes and the associate you talked to failed to put them in. Duh. All they could give me was $75 back from my order of over $2400. I was moving from Florida to Wisconsin and this really messed up my plans. Not to mention the apartment complex was furious with me for leaving a pod taking up 3 parking spaces in their lot for 3 nights. Horrible customer service and I highly recommend against using them. This was only 1 of many troubles. Way better moving companies out there.

After a month of contacting pods they refuse to admit what they damaged. Now we have to find a fence company, pay the bill, and hope that pods will reimburse for part of the bill as they stated.

If you happen to think about using this company I would say think twice. They've done this before, and they'll do it again. If you find yourself in a similar predicament then call the POLICE. Have an accident report and get it all documented. WHAT THE DRIVER TELLS YOU AND WHAT THE COMPANY DOES ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORIES.

I have to comment that dealing with Pods is the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered.

If you are looking for a company that is actually customer-focused, this is NOT the company you want to use. I’ve never had a moving company make a promise on something they had no intention of following through. If you have absolutely nothing to do with your life for 2 weeks straight other than wait for a moving truck, use them. However, if you are looking for a moving company who is accountable to a schedule/appointment you’ve set with them, look elsewhere. This fiasco has also ended up costing us money with having to change MY travel plans to accommodate THEM.

If you happen to have damage from one of these PODZILLAS I recommend calling the POLICE. Call the police and have an accident report filed. Take pictures and videos. This will help in court. I say this because it will likely become necessary. They will NOT FIX THINGS THEY DAMAGE. Don't listen to the drivers. They are told the same lies from corporate so I don't blame them, just the company.

My story.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! USE ANYONE ELSE BUT THIS COMPANY

My family has been using PODS services for a little over a year now, and paying the $153 per month, to house the pod at the facility in NC. Originally when we started nothing was properly explained. We pay the deposit to have it delivered, they drop it off, we pack, they pick up for free and store your pod until you need it back. My husband is military and now that we need our pod back we call customer service to set up a delivery, and the first person my husband spoke with could not explain anything and quoted him at $826 for a delivery fee. When asked questions about the charge she was not able to answer, nor give us a break down of what’s included, so my husband had to hang up out of sheer frustration. I called again and when I asked about transporting my pod to Jacksonville FL, from NC I was quoted at $928 to bring the pod from NC to FL, plus an additional $126 to have the pod delivered to my home. Nowhere in the contract or on the commercials and advertisements does it say we transport from facility to facility then charge you extra to get it to your home. Pods is a complete rip off, they scam military then hit you with these extra fees. Oh, but the agent was nice enough to let me know pick up of the empty pod is free. So, I paid the original deposit, then I pay a monthly, now I must pay over $1000 to get the pod to me. We rented a U-Haul and did a cross country move and spent less money on the truck rental fees. No one was able to explain where these fees are located, (i.e... printed, written, something other than customer service telling me.) Why doesn’t it say there is an additional charge to get the pod to my home once its delivered to the closest facility in my state. So many hidden fees, behind so many lies of free this and free that. The only thing that free is pick up of the full or empty container, considering what you’re paying that’s the least they could do. I will never use pods again, and I will make sure I report their crappy customer service, hidden fees, and under handed ways every chance I get. I will write on every forum, every review site, and corporate. This is the way you treat military; your company should be ashamed of the lies you tell unsuspecting families!

This is not a transparent operation. It passes and evades responsibilities between the national franchise and the local independent operators when it suits their needs.
