My wife and I went to the Macy's Furniture Gallery in Countryside this afternoon and were greeted by Sharon Klein. We had done our research online and came in specifically to see a sofa we found out was discontinued. Sharon showed us something that was somewhat similar and at a similar price point. Although not ideal, my wife and I decided to proceed and make an offer to purchase the sofa. The sticker price was $1799.00, a mandatory $200.00 delivery fee and 7% sales tax which made the total $2013.00. Let's also not forget the $200.00 warranty which is essentially mandatory since the sofa warranty is only 1 year and we all know a mechanical recliner will break at some point. This was above our budget and what we felt comfortable paying. My wife and I offered to do business immediately if she were to waive the delivery fee or come down on the price. We would have given our credit card and paid in full if the price were $2,000.00.

I own and operate a commission based sales business and would be appalled if any of my sales staff walked a qualified client over $200.00 without bringing a sales manager into the deal to try to educate the customer and close the deal. The whole encounter was disgusting!

Wonderful furniture of quality for a fair price. Our helper Sharon was amazing and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for assistance.

That's when the problems began. Sharon gave us every excuse in the book of poor salesmanship. First she started with the delivery fee and how there was absolutely no way to waive it. She then went on to say there was nothing she OR ANYONE else would do to lower the price. She refused to ask a manager and actually said "there is nobody else to ask." Funny since I didn't realize her name was Sharon Macy and she owned the store. Oh wait, she didn't!!! She went on and on about how she would be the one to take off money if she could and how she always helps the customer find the lowest price, even if that meant coming for a sale at a later date. She even went as far as to say people joke because she essentially just "gives" furniture away. My wife assured her that at the extreme over price she was not giving anything away. Sharon then offered to do two separate transactions so my wife and I could each open a Macy's credit card and each get $100.00 off the purchase. She actually had the audacity to say every time she opens a credit card she loses 5% off the sale but she would do that for us. That was the most absurd thing I have ever heard considering Macy's wants customers to open cards so much they take money off to do so. Why would they then penalize sales associates which would deter them from opening cards? At that point my wife had enough and said let's go. I offered to leave Sharon my cell phone number if she would go and ask her supervisor if it were possible to waive the fee, or lower the price, and do business today. Again, every pathetic excuse in the poor salesmanship book and she didn't even take my information!!!!!! I made a few attempts to try to put a deal together only to be met with more pathetic excuses. All I'm asking is to waive a ridiculously high $200.00 delivery fee or lower the price a bit. If it really is store policy that the delivery fee cannot be waived, why would she not bring out a manager to explain this? It was glaringly obvious that Sharon wanted a sale in the full amount and would rather not have a sale then try and accommodate a customers needs. Needless to say at this point my wife and I were so frustrated with the lack of willingness to negotiate and disgusting excuses that we left. We went to Havertys and looked at the Laramie sectional that has a sticker price of $2599. This sofa is made of better quality than the sofa at Macy's and carries a lifetime warranty on the mechanical recliner components at no additional charge. We spoke to the associate and explained our financial requirements. The associate immediately asked the manager, and long story short, we ended up paying $2066.00 which included tax and waived delivery fee, for a piece that ended up meeting our needs even better since the Laramie can be placed against the wall.

Decent mall and friendly staff

Was shopping with a friend for new sofa. Was pleased we were not harassed and allowed to look and shop at our leisure. Many times it can feel like vultures circling prey. Did not feel this way at all. Beautiful pieces here, priced right for the quality. Impressed by the warranty offered. I'll definitely be back when time for more furniture.

Bought what was sold as high grain leather sofa and love seat.... I have had two replacements in three years as the leather is peeling. We did purchase the extended warranty and the replacement is now peeling as well. The store directed me to Corporate to get a buy back and Corporate refused stating it was past the manufacturer warranty and I could not use the extended warranty. I asked if the replacement was refurbished and was told no so why isn't the new warranty valid. They offered me a credit back on the partial value. What a joke - do not waste your money here and their quality is worse than Ashley or Rooms To Go. Macy's definitely is not worth the money you spend.
