This is the 1st time I have ever posted a complaint about a company, however this is worthy of complaining. As of January 1st 2017 we elected to join Christian Health Care Ministries for health coverage. They only pay on claims larger than $500.00 and you have to pay then get reimbursed, we are self-pay basically. When my husband needed testing CT scan, MRI scan we were given a cost estimate from Bay Care, had no problems with the CT scan cost estimate it was as they stated to us. The MRI was priced at $5,266.00 and if you pay within 30 days they give you a 50% discount for self-pay. We paid the morning that we arrived for the test $2,633.00 then they proceeded with the test. Now 2 months later we are getting a bill for and additional $7,759.60! I have called several times and they tell me that the contrast they put in my husband was very expensive and that the estimate is an estimate and I have to pay it, or it will be reported to the credit bureau. You figure an estimate is at least in the ball park maybe a little higher or lower, but not $7,759.60 higher. At this point they have me over a barrel, they have the power to do and charge whatever they want and there is nothing you can do about it if you care about your credit. If they knew the contrast was very expensive when we paid the amount they asked for, it would have been nice if they would have said something to give me the opportunity to decide to do the test or not. Or at least could have called around to find it less expensive somewhere else. But what really is amazing here is they told us exactly what test they would be preforming and set the price and we paid the price they told us to pay. This could have happened whether we had insurance or not but they would not bully the insurance company as they have us, they may have went back and forth but at least they would not destroy their credit. Beware when getting an estimate for a service provided by Bay Care.

After the above post another person from Bay Care contacted me. And they now have honored the price they quoted, charged and collect from me for originally. Wanted to make sure I posted the outcome as well. :-)
